About the Artist

My life is devoted exclusively to digitally based projects such as web pages, 3D animation, 3D modeling, photo-manipulation and custom digital fine art. Consultation and tutoring in Photoshop, Illustrator, Bryce or Infini-D are available depending on my current schedule.
Experience- Since 1995, I have been working as a freelance artist under the name ABACUS Digital Design. ABACUS has completed jobs for Morrison International, K-9 Kampground, Seven Oaks Studio, Patrick's Restaurant (Chef Bringas & Chef Schroeder), BioFiltration Systems Inc., and other private individuals and businesses. The majority of the work done has been graphic design (corporate identity) including brochures, business cards, flyers, catalogs, and websites. Image manipulation skills include restoration of old photographs, insertion of digital photographs into computer generated 3D environments, and photography of items which are then scanned and incorporated into promotional items. I have also taught MetaCreations Bryce, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and GoLive on an individual basis. February, 1998 through April 2000 - after a successful freelance job, I accepted the position of Graphic Artist at Sign-A-Rama, Bradenton, FL, a local full service sign shop. I was responsible for all phases of design from creative concept to finished project. In July of 1998, I was promoted to Art Director which included the additional responsibilities of estimating, production scheduling, client relations, outside vendor communication and production. During my time with Sign-A-Rama, I directed the company toward a more digital focus. They now offer large format digital printing and website design, hosting, and management. I still work as an advisor and contractor for Sign-A-Rama as needed. In May 2000, again, after several successful freelance jobs (including one for BMG Music Club), I was hired on as Director of Website Development at Plan-It Promo and Design. Plan-It Promo offers promotional products, graphic design services and website design, hosting and maintenance. I am responsible for coordinating all aspects of website and multimedia development from the initial sketches and production to publishing and promotion. Affiliations- I am a member of the Digital Fine Artists Association, based in Sarasota. FL. In 1998 I gave several presentations on animation using MetaCreations Bryce3D and Infini-D. I have been a featured presenter in the past, at DiFAs Annual Symposium For Emerging Digital Artists. I have presented to the Sarasota Art Teachers Association and the Sarasota Elementary School Teachers Association in a Continuing Education program. My works have been shown in juried shows throughout the Sarasota/Manatee area. I recently received second place for "Outsider" an image from the Warrior Series in a show at the Sarasota Visual Arts Center. That image was subsequently sold into a private collection. I have been drawing and painting digitally since the early 80's, starting with the Commodore Vic 20. I currently use an Apple Power Macintosh G4 500MHz w/ 448MB Ram, 16MB VRAM, Adaptec Ultra SCSI Card and ATI Card with S-Video and IEEE 1394 (Firewire) Digital Video In/Out. I also have a Compaq 700 Mhz P3 with 10GB harddrive and 128 MB Ram for proofing and Windows only applications. I am an expert with Adobe Photoshop 6, Illustrator 9, MetaCreations Infini-D and Bryce 3D. |
